DES 311 – Creating Secure Application Architecture (UPDATED)
Course Overview
Poor architectural decisions can introduce systemic vulnerabilities into applications, even before a single line of code is written. Aligned with NIST SP 800-53 Rev. 5, PCI Secure SLC, and EU GDPR this course teaches application architects how to embed security early in the design process through principles such as compartmentalization, centralized validation, and controlled error handling.
After completing this course, learners will have the knowledge and skills to:
- Identify and explain secure software design principles
- Apply architectural strategies to reduce system risk
- Use compartmentalization and input validation to protect applications
- Mitigate the impact of exploits and error-handling weaknesses
